Mama Lam's

Mama Lam never imagined selling her recipes until her daughters Cassandra and Carissa convinced her otherwise. During a 2014 trip to Canada, the three stumbled upon a Southeast Asian food stand serving Curry Laksa. It was good, but not as good as Mom's. That moment sparked an idea, and the journey to launch Mama Lam's began.

Mama Lam's is a popular Malaysian-American food company based in Queens, New York, known for its small-batch Malaysian curry pastes and sambal hot sauce. Rooted in authentic family recipes, their traditional and vegan products are designed to bring bold Malaysian flavor to any kitchen.

With the 2024 holiday season approaching and cash flow tight from her pandemic EIDL loan, Cassandra was referred to Renaissance by the Small Business Development Center. She worked with a Renaissance business advisor to navigate the application process and secured a $40,000 loan that covered inventory and space costs for her Holiday Pop-up marketplace, just in time for the busiest season of the year.
